The MIT-Empowering the Teachers (MIT-ETT) program provides an intense, semester long teaching-focused engagement for selected cohorts of faculty members (ETT Fellows) from African universities.
By introducing the ETT Fellows to cutting edge student-focused teaching methodologies the ETT strives to foster innovation in science and engineering education in tertiary academic institutions in Africa.
The ETT Fellowship is a laboratory for innovation in engineering education, with the goal of creating impactful transformations in the Nigerian tertiary academic sphere.
The mission of MISTI is to approach to science and engineering education in African universities is yet to adopt a focus on problem solving, innovation and creativity.
Furthermore standards in these tertiary institutions have retrogressed due to severe neglect and lack of investment.

Eligibility Criterias for the 2026 NNPC TotalEnergies ETT Fellowship
To apply for the NNPC TotalEnergies Fellowship 2026, you must:

- Hold a PhD and be a faculty member in a Nigerian university teaching Computer Science, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Petroleum Engineering, or Geophysics

The program covers basic travel, living, and instructional material expenses. During their time at MIT, fellows will:
- Attend classes similar to those they teach, gaining insights into innovative teaching methodologies.

- Participate in MIT-ETT seminars focusing on curriculum design and MIT cultural aspects.
